Spicy Tangy Tengra Fish Curry

Let’s share another Bengali recipe. I found Tengra fish in the store in very small sizes. I was really very disappointed. But when I back home I decided to make Spicy tangy Tengra fish curry. Tengra fish has some nutrition benefits too like it is full of vitamin C, Vitamin A, Calcium and iron too.

Ingredients

  • Tengra Fish -100gm (marinate with salt and turmeric powder for 10 mints)
  • Mustard oil - 4 tbsp
  • 3 finely chopped onion
  • 1/2tbsp black cumin seed
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 big Tomato (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 3-4 sliced green chili
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Spicy Tangy Tengra Fish Curry
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry marinated fishes until they are golden brown in colour and keep aside.
  • Now again add some oil to the pan and add black cumin seeds. Now add the chopped onions and keep frying until onion changes colour to slightly golden.
  • Add the chopped garlic and ginger paste and mix it properly.
  • Add sliced green chili and chopped tomato to it and keep frying until tomato loses raw smell.
  • By this time you will be able to see little oil oozing out. At this time add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder with pinch of sugar. Fry it for a minute.
  • Once the oil separating from masala adds 1 cup warm water to it and adds fish and put the flame on medium with cover.
  • Adjust salt.
  • After 7-10 mints open the lid and check for your desired consistency of the gravy.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves and sliced green chili to it. With warm rice this curry goes very nice.
